Blued Copper Ribbon Earrings
While guild member Brighid was using heat to raise a red patina on the sodalite jewelry she was working on, she starting thinking about other ways to use patina to add interest to the metal. Looking for brighter colors than she had previously gotten, she tried a salt and ammonia treatment. After 24 hours in a sealed container, these spirals have the most brilliant blue mixed with a black. The contrast is striking. To maintain the current coloring, she then treated the metal with a protective clear coat.
Because copper is a reactive metal, sterling silver ear wires were handmade.
